Nor'Westers RFC Alumni Day 2016

Saturday September 10th was a lovely day for the Antediluvians RFC to play the Nor’ Westers RFC at their great fields and clubhouse. Scott Vandusen was the Team Manager for the day, and he did a great job of recruiting players. A number of the Antediluvians who were on the Cardiff Tour in August showed up in fine form for the day. We had a number of new faces wearing an Antediluvians game jersey. Notably some of the Lep-Tiger old boy players (Norm Suvan Jr., Randy, Lee, Eugene, Malcolm, and a few other lads), some that we played back in July on the Lep-Tigers RFC Day.

Also Big Joe our Maori friend returned to lace up the boots. Luis Medele from the Druids RFC played in his first Antediluvians old boys game, and showed some of his old running skills. They were a great addition to the squad, and gave us the bench strength we needed to play the keen and talented Nor’ Westers.

Tom Hyland did a very good job of refereeing his first old boys game. Woody Power kept the boys focused for the game with his pep talks. We finished the game scoring a few more tries then the Nor’ Westers, although all old boy rugby games officially end in a tie. The Antediluvians provided some post game funding for our hosts consuming jugs of beer, burgers and buying 50-50 tickets, all for a good cause on a great day.
